Is the H&R handy rifle strong enough to be rebarreled to 375 JDJ? Why used the homely handy rifle you asked? The new "Primitive" Deer season in Louisiana allows it. I would love to rebarrel a Ruger #1 or 3 but they are not allowed. The 375 JDJ would be a much better deer round than a 444 or 45-70 which are the other options. What velocities could be expected with the 200 or 220 gr bullets from a 24" barrel if they can reach 2000+ fps out of 14" pistol barrels? Doug Humbarger NRA Life member Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club 72'73. "New England Firearms or Harrington & Richardson Handi Rifles in calber larger than .38" If that is to be taken literally, the .375JDJ doeasn't qualify either. "I ask, sir, what is the Militia? It is the whole people. To disarm the people is the best and most effective way to enslave them" - George Mason, co-author of the Second Amendment during the Virginia convention to ratify the Constitution

I could stamp 380 JDJ or 385 Humbarger just because. Doug Humbarger NRA Life member Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club 72'73. Yankee Station Try to look unimportant. Your enemy might be low on ammo.
