Hey Guys,

I'm looking at getting Alan carr (Rifle maker) of N.Z to make me up a 505/530 Woodleigh custom rifle. The action is easy enough, probably a CZ 550 or 602 (if we can get one!)
But what a want to ask is, if there is anyone who knows where we could get a barrel blank drilled out to the 530. I would appreciate any feed back!!

Hi Jeffeosso,

Thanks for the feed back, although I have already e-mailed Geoff but with no reply!(Its been about 6 weeks) It would be great to talk to him and see who made up his barrel! It must have cost him a packet to get it made up as he would have to pay for the reemers to drill out the barrel blank! This is why a need to talk to him like you say. Hopefully I can contact him shortly. Thanks again Jeffeosso!

That 550 magnum/express is a beast! A little bit big for what a wanted to achieve. I was trying to bridge the gap between my 577 N/E, and my 458 lott! The 550 is just to close to the 577. The 530 woodleigh looks great on paper as Geoff has done loads of 146 grains H4350 with a 750 grain bullet at 2352. and thats got energy in excess of 9200 . Now thats a thumper!
My second choice is the 500 A-Square 600 grain bullet at 2475 with oodles of energy at 8155.I wouldn't even mind the 475 A & M Magnum. This throughs a 600 pill at 2500 with energy around 8300. All in all it would be great to get a hold on the 530 Woodleigh but I will need help mainly from Goeff I think, as it is his cartridge.I will keep you posted with what I decide.

Gota,
yep.. it can be loaded to a handful, but the data you posted for the 530 is about the same vel with a 750 vs a 700 (550)...it's ZERO harder to build than an a2/wells, as it uses the same parent brass...

and bertram is going to make bullets for it...

geoff has a rather negative taste on the 530 these days... and is getting behind the 8ball on the 550

I talked to Geoff in person and he stated that only 6 rifles had been built for the 505/530 and that he would not build another.
