Does anyone know of an after market safety for the Ruger MKII series. The stock safety is a little small and more difficult to use than a Model 70 and I'd like to replace it.

Haaven't seen one, but you might consider having a gunsmith weld on an extension.

Metalsmith Ed LaPour makes them, but
they are expensive. The quality
matches the cost though.

Don,
ed makes excellent products, though this route is over kill.. Ed's safety is a shroud safety, not a lever replacement

I too have the same complaint on the ruger safeties.. should be 3/16 longer

Yeah, I know it's a shroud safety, Jeff.
Better, I think! I'm not fond of the
Ruger original on the Mark II!

Don

Don,

Thanks for the web address, I called and they only make the shroud safety for the older tang safety models not the M77 MKII models. But I'll keep an eye out for someone who does.

Hmmm. That's nice to know, MG1. His website
says it will work on either the old or new? I
wonder what he means by that?

His site doesn't reference the MKII. There was a change made to the trigger pieces on the M77R. If you look at the Ruger site it list different trigger parts on models 79-49999 and below. Maybe that is what he is calling old and new model.

As usual just my $.02
