| Mine are from Cabelas and all have military studs in place of the buckles. I like them and they were very inexpensive.

| Actaully, I know nothing about any of these slings. I am thinking of buying one for a Lang double barrel rifle that I have. But I'm not sure I'm going to keep her. I already have the sling hooks though. Brent

| IMHO all of the slings pictured have a MAJOR fault - hulking great metal buckles to rap agains the stock making noise and spoiling finish.
There is no reason for a carry sling to be made of anything other than leather (except perhaps for some non slip rubber) |

| Check out the Westley Richards sling. I think these are the best by far. 2 full inches wide, leather and canvas construction as you stated. The width really distributes the rifle's weight and the sling doesn't dig into your shoulder. If you go to their web site, please note that the actual sling sold does not have buckles as depicted in the ad, but rather has the brass rivet type attachment which is so popular with the other "African" type slings(some of which are depicted above).

| I would not get the Trader's Keith sling. I woul dget one with a ragular buckle. The TK sling just has leather keepers that stretch over time, and it is not a very secure sling. If you do go that route, I would advise stiching the leather after installing on a swivel. I have one and don't trust it too much these days |

I have a couple of Vellini slings. They don't slip on your shoulder. Being made of a neoprene like material they are comfortable when carrying a rifle. In my opinion they are for carrying only - they are not a particularly good shooting sling because of the stretchy neoprene.

| I made mine, I used the 2 inch cotton webbing and sewed an uncle mikes swivel directly to it. I used two Chicago screws through a doubled part of the webbing for additional albeit unneeded strength. I experimented with lengths with a leather strap I have and when I got it right, just made the cotton one the same length.
