If it is a BR barrel, it's likely made to be 21.5" when done. A ppc is a wonderful varmint cartridge, but the 14 twist is going to limit you to varmint weight bullets. If you want an "easier" cartridge than the PPC, you could clean up the chamber with a 6BR reamer, I suppose, but the PPC is a great varmint cartridge. HTH, Dutch.

I have a 6X45 in a mini mauser with a 1-14" twist and it just loves 70 gr SX bullets.I suspect it'll do well with the under 60 grainers too.

I tried a 6MM Improved on a 14" twist and never got the results I wanted regarding range. The lighter bullets don't carry as well and the ones that did carry well were too heavy for the twist. Since you have one barn burner, my inclination is to recommend the smaller cases. 6mm/223 is pretty perky in a rifle barrel.

With a short barrel, you may be better off with a 6mm PPC (as compared to a .243 WSSM). There's no reason as to why the PPC wouldn't be good on varmits. Lee Martin www.singleactions.com

ON an impulse bought a 6PPC Krieger SS fluted 22 inch 14 twist barrel to put onto a Sako action. Looking at 6mm/223 same as 6X45, 6mmX222 same as 6X47, and someone said look at 243WSSM, which would take another action. What can I just do with the 6ppc for varmints? I am knot a benchrester, just looking for a light kicking varmint plinker and occasional coyote rifle. I also have a 6X284 so dont need another hot round. Oh, the barrel is turned for a Farley action, so may be 20 inches after lop and chop for rechamber unless I can turn down outside and rechamber inside without losing length. appreciate input.
