I have a 1/2 round barrel band on a weatherby rifle. I am unable to tighten the band sufficiently to keep it from sliding off the barrel or turning. does anyone have advice or where I can purchase a new band. Leaving in 60 days for Africa so I need to get this taken care of promptly. Thanks

Is this a band that was soldered on or does it clamp on with a screw? If it was soldered on the joint needs to be cleaned and the parts re-heated together til the solder melts, adding solder if needed. If it is a clamp on style, you need to degrease the barrel and the inside of the band, then slide the band up the taper til it expands slightly and then tighten it.

This is a two piece 1/2 band and looks like the bands have bent or the screw thread has stripped. I took bobster's advice and will order a new one tomorrow. thanks guys.
