Not exactly gunsmithing, but this is the closest thing.

A friends wife called today and is wanting to buy him a rifle. Christmas present, but may be presented early so he can shed his right hand 7mm this year.
Requirements?
Left hand bolt gun . . . READ LEFT HAND bolt gun

30-06 . . . . 30-06 . . . . ONLY 30-06

NOTHING outside of these parameters considered.

He kinda likes Browing A bolt
He kinda wants a "BOSS"
he HAS to HAVE left hand bolt gun
He HAS to have a 30-06

She has to have a gun she can afford.
Prefers stainless
Prefers synthetic stock HAS to have left hand bolt gun.

Looking at A bolt kinda beyond what she wants to pay.
I mentioned Savage is good, accurate outa the box reasonable priced gun, thought the purists kinda look down their nose at them.

Most others do not have Left hand SS with synthetic stock.

Suggestions . . . Sources . . .

The Savage 116 stainless, synthetic is the only one I know of which meets all of your requirements, except no brake.

Ruger has the laminate stocked in stainless but no synthetic stock

here's the best left hand .30-06 you can get IMO

If she really wants stainless and synthetic....the price from Winchester goes way way up

I think you forgot to mention if they want a right or left handed action.

For a left handed 30-06 in stainless, I'd get the Ruger Mk11 with the grey laminated stock, or find a used LH stainless Winchester. In time as funds allowed, I'd replace the factory stocks with something from McMillan.

Savage is my suggestion - I got one (lefty) for my better half in a .270 two years ago - she loves it.

Synthetic stock, stainless, Lefty, Muzzle Brake that can be turned on or off, and great accuracy.

It would be great in a 30-06.
