Just finished putting in a new Timney trigger on my CZ550 in 416 Rigby. What an improvment. About half as big as the factory, several handfuls less parts and ended up with a very nice, crisp pull. Haven't hand a chance to measure it, but feels around 4 lbs. I highly recommend this trigger. Thanks to all those on the forum that helped me find it.

I will post pics in the next couple of days. Some new developements....there are apparently 2 triggers by Timney for the CZ...the 550 and the 550M. I bought the 550. I didn't realize this when I posted, as I had not put the action back in the stock yet, but you have to relieve the back for the trigger slot in the trigger guard to use the 550 trigger. I am guessing that the 550M has a bit different shape trigger lever, that allows clearance for the "drop" magazine box of the 550M rifles. No big deal, I did mine with a rat tail file and a little cold blue. The 550M was not available at the time I ordered mine, a fact I found out after I put mine in. Anyway, still highly recommended and will try and post pics soon. Next stop, 3 position M70 type safety.

where did you get your trigger? I have 2 550s. I think the set is fine for my 550 american in .243 but it makes little sence on my full stock 7X57 mauser. I asume it works fine with the factory saftey ? ...tj3006 freedom1st

I ordered mine from Brownells. Jeffeosso was kind enough to supply the part number. It is posted here on another thread about CZ550 triggers. Sorry, don't remember which thread but do a search under my user name and you should find it. Was within the last couple of weeks. I called Timney direct, but at the time they said that delivery directly from them was not going to happen until November. Mine works fine with the factory safety. Let me know if I can be of any further help.

Come on, we need a pic! Is the new trigger shifted back to the back of the triggerguard or is it in the same position? ------------------------------- Will Stewart / Once you've been amongst them, there is no such thing as too much gun. --------------------------------------- and, God Bless John Wayne. Just curious why you decided to get rid of the "set trigger"? Granted at first I HATED the one on my CZ 550 375 H&H, but now I really like it. KC

I am a firm believer in simplicity. The set trigger has many, many moving parts and little springs. On a target rifle it would be great, but on a rifle that I someday hope to go to Africa with, I want to lessen my chances of a malfunction as much as possible. I also thought the trigger lever looked "cheap"...just my opinion. As a matter of fact I am building a nice little 7x57 on a 98 Mauser and am using the original military trigger. I do like a two stage trigger. Again, nothing really wrong with the factory trigger, just the greater possiblility of something going wrong, that bothers me. Again, my opinion and my thinking.

Thanks for the pics. Indeed it looks like the trigger is shifted rearward. And as you say will require a little grinding on the triggerguard. Should be the most useful on the Magnum version. ------------------------------- Will Stewart / Once you've been amongst them, there is no such thing as too much gun. --------------------------------------- and, God Bless John Wayne. I would imagine the 550m version is a tad longer. set trigger? cool at the range or in a blind, just about useless in the field and something to jam and break jeffe opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round?
