| I really can't remember seeing a black one until I just looked at their website and everything has a black pad. Red was the usual color for production Winchesters once. Maybe they changed recently.
"Experience" is the only class you take where the exam comes before the lesson.

| FWIW, I have a M70 from their custom shop, a Shot Show Special Edition 1 0f 100, circa '01 and it has a red butt pad. |

| The 1949 Super Grade .375 H&H I had was equipped with a red pad. It said WINCHESTER across it..... The pre-64's had the year of manufacure stamped on the underside of the barrel just in front of the receiver ring. It also had a receiver bridge with NO drilling/tapping for a scope mount. This rifle had a Jaeger QD side mount that held a 2.5X Lyman Alaskan.......
