M70 Sight Plug

I have a pre 64 Model 70 with a plug installed in the rear sight dovetail. I need to drive the plug out and install the sight I found for it. Which way does the plug drive out?

My best guess is either way. The plug takes the place of a dovetail based open sight. Windage adjustments on those sights is in either direction.

That works for Winchesters and most but not all other guns. Glocks, for example, I believe go right to left.
