Turfman, If you don't which end of a gouge to use you probably don't want to use a Richards Microfit stock. I like the quality of the wood I get for not much money but I've had to do a lot of work on them.
If you want a drop-in type fit that you only have to bed you might try a Boyds, Accurate Innovations or something.

PS. Thanks for the complement Eldequello, guys on this site have given me a lot of inspiration, encouragement and education........DJ

DJ, that is FINE! Do you only do work for yourself, or could a regular schmo send you his barreled action for you to put a stock on? I have a SAKO 75 hunter(their walnut stock) but would like to put a really nice piece of 'satin or oil finished wood on it......

Regards-Don.

*** Hey DJ I just read your post later in the thread about you just having done a few stocks ( I guess I should read the whole thread before replying to someone)--gee whiz, you're good man... anyway if you are only doing stocks for your own projects than I guess that would be that... if you have any other recommendations for a 'drop in' type stock of nice qualities of wood I would be interested....Thanks--D.

How about great american gunstock Co. The G&H also would fit the bill I'm guessing.

thanks.

Turfman, I just put the finishing touches on this one today. I'll be sending it off to be checkered tomorrow. It's a G&H from Great American. Henry Pohl is the owner and is an all right guy to deal with. One nice thing about GAG is if you get in over your head you can just send him the barreled action and the wood and they will fit and shape it for you. They speak english over there too (never hurts).

I paid $450 for this one.

Terry
