djpaintlesRe: richards microfit
Turfman, If you don't which end of a gouge to use you probably don't want to use a Richards Microfit stock. I like the quality of the wood I get for not much money but I've had to do a lot of work on them.
If you want a drop-in type fit that you only have to bed you might try a Boyds, Accurate Innovations or something.
PS. Thanks for the complement Eldequello, guys on this site have given me a lot of inspiration, encouragement and education........DJ

Fish30114DJ, that is FINE! Do you only do work for yourself, or could a regular schmo send you his barreled action for you to put a stock on? I have a SAKO 75 hunter(their walnut stock) but would like to put a really nice piece of 'satin or oil finished wood on it......
Regards-Don.
*** Hey DJ I just read your post later in the thread about you just having done a few stocks ( I guess I should read the whole thread before replying to someone)--gee whiz, you're good man... anyway if you are only doing stocks for your own projects than I guess that would be that... if you have any other recommendations for a 'drop in' type stock of nice qualities of wood I would be interested....Thanks--D.
