When I was young and keen, I could work the bolt on my SMLE during recoil, come back on the game thru the scope to see if the 2nd shot was necessary. (Maybe I expected to need another shot those days??) John L.

Being vertically challenged, and with correspondingly short arms, I cannot cycle the bolt on my CZ 416 Rigby without taking the rifle from my shoulder. Maybe that's why I have a double rifle? I do dismount the gun and cycle the action. Not sure how much time I lose by doing so. Eye relief and comfort from shooting standing, or off the bench, is fine, so I cannot realy fault the LOP. yes... one of the things that drives me nuts when i build one.. it HAS to feed, slow, fast, whatever... remember, a second shot is under pressure, under excitiment, whatever, and is a challenge to get off.. the gun shouldn't be an issue jeffe opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? My question is why would anyone build a rifle that doesn't feed properly. Wouldn't that be like a car manufacturer building a car that needs to be tuned up immediatly after being driven off the lot? Functionality is the most important feature of a firearm, you can't kill anything with the looks of a rifle. Too many times we get hung up in the asthetics, which is fine as long as the firearm can perform, unless you are just going to hang it over your fireplace.

I dunno, I kind of think that a poor feeding rifle adds to the excitement! Never knowing if the cartridge will make it into the chamber before your quary walks off or eats you. It's amazing how many folks will say, my rifle feeds fine. Fine, that is, until someone that knows what proper feeding feels like trys it. Aut vincere aut mori

Ray, thanks for the feedback. I am shooting the standard CZ stock, whatever LOP that is. I am not averse to having the stock shortened and a different recoil pad put on. What is the current method for stock fit? Would it be the same as for a double? I have Searcy's "self measurement" sheet somewhere. Thanks, Peter. Be without fear in the face of your enemies.
