Just got this in today. It's a beautiful 1936 Mexican smallring M98. This all started about a year ago when Jim Wisner offered up a stunning little guild style barrel and bottom metal on the classified forum. After receiving these items I bought a really nice action from 22WRF and a 3-position Satterlee safety. The barrel was chambered in .243WIN needed a re-bore so off to Clearwater reboring it went. I wanted a 6.5X55 but David said the reamer wouldn't clean up the .243Win chamber so I went with a .260Rem. David added the integral square bridges, welded up a few holes and did way too many other things to bring up in one post. Here is how it turned out. Unfortunately it'll be a while before anything else happens to it because gun budget is blown for the unforeseeable future. ![]() Terry -------------------------------------------- Well, other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

Terry, I'm behind you at Davids' and I'm behind you at James Anderson, and looks like I will be behind you at Roger Kehrs'. Dang you!! David does just great work and I am proud to have 3 of his rifles. He is doing square bridges on my 9.3x62. Now that Terry's is done, maybe mine will be right behind his. Terry, it is beautiful. TC1 I sold that action (and I think safety) to you in moments of extreme fragility. I was incapacitated, and therefore not capable of making a valid contract. We will need to rescind the transaction. ![]() Congratulations on a very nice project! Those integral square bridges are very fine.

As usual, just superb taste and this needs a very trim stock, Al Lind used to do very light wood stocks of a simple style that would look great with this metal. OR, something styled after the Brno 21/22 handle, with a higher comb line would be nice.

Very nice rig and if you want to raise some cash please pm me. Question, if it's a '36, where's the gas port on the left side of the receiver? Was it welded up or is it a 1910?

That barrel made me go weak at the knees, and I wait to see it in the stock. Von Gruff.

It's a 1936. David welded up the large gas hole. it still has the small one on the right side though. A good way to tell a 1910 from a 1936 is the thumb cut on a 1910 is very shallow. It doesn't even break the stock line. Terry -------------------------------------------- Well, other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

Excellent work. I hope we get to see it in a stunning piece of walnut soon. The price of knowledge is great but the price of ignorance is even greater.

Terry. Good to see it is coming along. I was going to do basically the same thing with those parts but in 7mm 08 caliber. I simply had way to many personal projects gathering dust, so that is why I deceided to sell them. Can hardly wait to see the finished project. James Wisner Custom Metalsmith

The year David went back home to Louisana, one of the gun magazines had a feature article on him, and I read it. When I saw the pix they had of his work, I KNEW he was GREAT!!! He has what is known as "The Knack", the touch, the eye, and great craftsmanship. Every rifle I see now that he did, I pay very close attention there to..And do a whole lot of drooling... Don

Cool a .260 fan. The .260 Rem gets it done. Deer, Antelope, Elk, Caribou. No problem. pick your shot. game over. get the knife out. Nice metalwork. Stu Satterlee

Terry- You never cease to amaze us with your incredible projects. Just another in a long line of gorgeous projects. What kind of bolt handle is on your Mex Mauser and who checkered it? It looks like a Jim Biair (Half Moon) handle but, the checkering looks like Jerome Glimm? May the wind be in your face and the sun at your back. P. Mark Stark

![]() ![]() Amen! Terry has a great mind. His attention to every detail, in concert with selecting what gunsmiths will do what work to bring together a magnificent rifle, is the best I've ever seen. His rifles are all masterpieces. My hat is off to Terry!! Don
