I have gone both routes on rifles. My rule of thumb is if there is something unique about the barrel such as integral features, unique name/provenance, or engraving then rebore. If the barrel is a conventional round barrel from a common factory rifle then rebarrel. As to barrels, I have used McGowen, Douglas, Pac-Nor, Shilen, Obermeyer, and Kreiger, and been happy with all of them. I believe that most of the major barrel makers are making decent barrels these days, so go with what the person who rebarrels the rifle recommends. One morning I shot an elephant in my pajamas. How he got into my pajamas I'll never know. - Groucho Marx | |||

Reboring is half the cost, and the barrel fits the barrel channel..Everyone Ive had rebored shot fantastic..I used High Plains in every case.. If I want to rebarrel I use Lothar Walthar and consider them the best barrel on the market..
