I have just aquired a new 1895 winchester in 405 and I am looking for rear peep sight . does anyone out there know if there are any made for the 1895 .
Used to be. Haunt the old timie gunshops and try to get into the junkbox. You could probably use on of the modern one but, you would have to drill and tap the receiver.

Lyman used to make one specifically for this application, but I don't remember the number. Good choice on the 405, I just picked up some of the Hornady ammo to try out in my "big medicine".

the old Lyman rear sights for the 1895 were 38WR and 21WR . but if you find one , they will set you back half the price of the rifle . the only new one I have found is a tang sight ,that they want too mount were my thum goes , not an option for me . I would think that with all new 1895,s made by Browning and winchester somebody would make something .
I am jealous! I would love to have one in 405. If you do find a place with the original receiver sights, please let me know. I have a 1895 take-down in 30-03 that is a good shooter, but has no collector value due to a previous owner's misguided gunsmithing efforts. This '95 needs a peep to be complete.
Scot--doesn't the receiver have to be tapped for the Lyman 21 and 38 sights anyway?
William's peep sight for the Winchester Model 86 will work, and Ashley makes a peep sight for the Model '95. If you like the Lyman Model 48 sight, the SKS Model will with minor modification if you mill or file the a small amount from the top of the radius on the base where it mates against the receiver.
