I know it will work, but what are some negatives?

I am thinking Lawson thumbhole stock, 28 inch # 5 Lilja, magna ported? Black teflon.

What do you guys think?

The biggest advantage I can see is that using a 550 action instead of a custom M700 clone like a McMillan is I save $1200-1500 on the action.

I don't see why it won't work. The only glitch might be the 3800 bar limit stamped on the action when the Lapua is loaded to 4700 bar.

The lower limit is a bolt thrust issue on the larger cases but a persnickety gunsmith might make an issue of it nonetheless.

sounds kinda neat, you'll need a better trigger to fit that kind of design, but it would work

Jeff what about just using the single set option already on it.

I had the single set in my CZ 550 375 working perfectly.

I figured you would be making a tactical grade weapon.. i find teh cz triggers to generally feel like a single set trigger, that's full of sand

plumber makes a decent replacement.. I wish jewel did, too

Of course you have to wait for me to get home from Italy, and order the parts, and send them to you.

The action will handle the pressure.

The McMillan A-5 stock will work with the action.

If you specify a "sniper" fill (heavy), it will soak up the recoil pretty well.

The AHR trigger will work just fine. I put one on a CZ in 9.3 x 62 (just sold it to mrxlema). Very crisp and clean.

Do a "speed lock" job on the cocking piece and firing pin.

When you have the action trued up, have the smith mill a 20 MOA forward slant on the top. Secure a piece of steel picatinny rail with four 8x40 screws, and you are good to go.

Also, replace the factory bolt with a Holland extended "Tactical" model. Those are the cat's ass in this application.

Lawndart, I know the action will work too, I just was cautioning that some of the more liability-oriented 'smiths won't do it, just like a few won't mess with trigger jobs.

Lawndart is on to it, I wan't aware anyone but AHR made triggers for it.

The McMillan A-5 is perfect, and a different bolt handle will do wonders.

$600 for the stock
$450 for a 28 inch Lilja fluted 338 barrel 1 in 10 for 300s and 250s,
$400 worth of misc parts bolt, trigger, safety
and $600 to you for the work and the Teflon?
