Hey Shootaway, Could you elaborate on "How" the Bronze brush damaged the Stainless steel barrel?

Funny you mention that, as I would have told you "no way" at one point. Jack Belk pointed this out to me. I don't know if the pictures still work (my pc is not showing them properly today for some reason)
https://forums.accuratereloading.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/...?r=89210854#89210854i had felt that there was no way a brush could damage a bore.. and, well, the "brush" can't, but all the crap on it can.
if you had a problem with a sendero AND a stainless muzzle loader, i would have to say the problem was with the process, not the brush.
and, well, I frankly find stainless "ugly" when left silver, and here i am "defending" them

fyjHammer forging can produce an acceptable barrel but to say that it will produce one that is superior to the other methods is a bit of a stretch.
Any barrel making process done poorly will obviously result in a less than satisfactory product no matter what steel you use or what particular method you employed.
Also, poor cleaning habits have probably worn out (ruined) more barrels than shooting them ever has.

This is the main reason for lots of the smith's trash stainless. It doesn't have the "classic look".
I also agree with fyj, don't believe for a second that hammer forging produces a better barrel than cut or button rifling. Properly cut and button barrels make hammer forging a thing of the past IMHO.

Hot Core has it right here.....the bronze brush isn't likely harming anything...if it was I';d have had a lot of bad barrels!!!
FWIW.....if one method of rifling was clearly superior (in accuracy) than any other the evidence would be known.....and it's not...merely opinions and much of them without supporting statistical data.
We shooters are simply full of opinions.....and that's what makes a lot of chat on the forums interesting.

shootawayIf you don't believe me try it! Take a Sendero or a blackpowder rifle with a ss barrel push a bronze brush through but not all the way, then reverse direction(pull it back).Look at the bore where the brush was reversed.

pointblankShootaway, what you have done is well known as improper cleaning technique. Never reverse a tight fitting bronze brush before it exits the bore. You were asking for trouble.
