Gentlemen, would anyone know of an expert on the Model 88 Winchester? I have a stock 88 in .308 that is fine but my custom .25/284 that I bought from a friends estate has locked open. This has happened before and our local smith replaced the links, things were fine during sight in etc., but this evening my son shot a buck and when he went to cycle the action it ejected the empty but the bolt stuck open. This gun shoots great and I want to make it right. Any suggestions or smiths who have experiance on these? Thanks Chris

I had Tip Burns put one together for me a few years ago. (Please don't ask me who took it apart) Jason "You're not hard-core, unless you live hard-core." _______________________ Hunting in Africa is an adventure. The number of variables involved preclude the possibility of a perfect hunt. Some problems will arise. How you decide to handle them will determine how much you enjoy your hunt. Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure. -Jason Brown

Frist thing I would do is look for something struck in the action.

P, dog, nothing stuck, I just pulled it from the stock and it finally went shut. I wouldn't dare try to take it any further. It almost appears to be over camming.
