the guy said it cocks on closing though. looks like a '36 with the vent hole, serial number between vent and thumb slot, thumb slot kinda inbetween a 1910 and regular 98, cocking piece, and bottom metal. maybe he got confused on how it cocked?

Looks like more holes on the rear bridge under the base, plus a nice piece of fire wood.

It seems like Jeffeoso (Jeffe) is the current high bidder so, it probably is. "I ask, sir, what is the Militia? It is the whole people. Jeffe's new pattern stock should fit right in, he could call it the "BUBBA SPECIAL"

That action DOES NOT cock on opening. it cocks on closing, which does make it a mex for sure.

I was thinkin the same thing, Jeffey is after that bitchen stock not the action.
|
One of Us |
WTF are you talking about? It most assuredly does cock on opening. It is a 98 after all. Even though it was cleverly cobbled together using the 95 footprint.

Poleax I am sorry. Your are right. I wrote and asked the guy how it cocked (see his post) and then I wrote the wrong thing here. It cocks on opening and is a mexican action. He now changed his original post from cock on closing to cock on opening.

That stock is too Frick’in funny. Worse yet David Christman had its twin in his checkering cradle the other day. Now Mr. David is not one to comment on a customer’s stuff but I had a lot to say about. Anyway maybe we are all missing something. By the way gentlemen it was a refinish and checker job so don’t get your hopes up on Mr. David having that pattern either. Maybe Jeffe “ll win the auction and we can all have our chance later. So keep on bidding Jeffe. Shawn Have you cycled your PF upside down lately????? God Bless http://www.davidchristmangunmaker.com/ http://i257.photobucket.com/al...wnhound/f66262d4.jpg

Vapo, expire too is fitting... I would hope to expire prior to making such a stock.... oh well, I bid my max, and any fool that knows a thing about mexican 36 actions knows one doesn't buy the stock it's in.... opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? how would you all rate the metal on the NRA scale?

Above the woodline looks "good" in the pictures, but, that's only half the story. Rojelio

i would rater thing one a bit higher, on the action and bottom metal than "good".. there's no visible pitting (though mexican mausers tend to have damage under the wood) ... but, then again, nra rating is based on finish and function as the original rifle, and "excellent" is 80% finish remaming... i would rate the action alone, from the pictures, to be very good to fine.... as a complete gun? ir's fair to poor, but that's mostly based off the stock being such a POS, jeffe opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? I would rather have the 1910's than the 36's. I have some of both and the 1910's are all a lot tighter than the 36's. It seems that the tolerances are a lot closer on the 1910's. The 36's remind me of the Spanish 43's the way that they feel when you work the bolt. Kinda sloppy. Just my experience with them. Rojelio
