Thanks. Just what I expected from Numrich. Good service and crappy parts, unless they are OEM parts. Tom

You would need about a 6" eye relief to mount a scope in front of a 98 safety. Depending on the length of the ocular piece, you may also have to use a side mount instead of mounting the rear ring on the bridge. The traditional method with the flag safety is to just use higher rings. Despite all the "low scope" BS written in the '50s and '60's, no one ever missed their game by a 1/4 inch. One other "problem" with Leupolds is that they have a wide field of view. Anything under 4x will have your iron sights in view, unless you use high rings. The old Weaver 3x has a slightly smaller FOV and usually doesn't show the irons. Everything is a compromise, one way or another.

Or you can use the 2 position FN safety on the left side.

Quote: I got a 2 position low scope mount from numrich that is rediculously low priced, (I think it was about $7.00). It is a leftie and is as easy to install as a flag. In a way I actually like it better than my Buehlers, its convineient and a quick thumbstroke like the FN style.

Folks, I am thinking that if one wanted to use the 2.5x comapct leupold on there 1909 project that the Flag saftey would work as it may neally sit infront of the obejective bell as the little leupolds are so short ?? If this where the case I would not bother swapping out for a 3 position safety, I sort of like the looks of the flag and one could definitely see if it where on if it was sitting up infront of the bell Do others know if this would be the case ??
