This is a 300 H&H barrel, with a witness mark and a "51", no idea when it was removed from the rifle. It's also got a dovetail on the underside, opposite the sight.

Yup, that is the date stamp. That barrel is cut rifled and hand lapped. The dovetail on the bottom of the barrel is for the fore-end tie-down screw that the pre-64's had.

All older Winchester rifles had a date stamped on the bottom of the barrel but, sometime in the late 50's, ear;y 60's, (I think) they stopped that practice.
