Okay so I know that wone is a push feed amd one is CRF and the safteies are different... But were there other deign changes also... Mike Legistine actu quod scripsi? Never under estimate the internet community's ability to reply to your post with their personal rant about their tangentially related, single occurrence issue. What I have learned on AR, since 2001: 1. The proper answer to: Where is the best place in town to get a steak dinner? is…You should go to Mel's Diner and get the fried chicken. 2. Big game animals can tell the difference between .015 of an inch in diameter, 15 grains of bullet weight, and 150 fps. 3. There is a difference in the performance of two identical projectiles launched at the same velocity if they came from different cartridges. 4. While a double rifle is the perfect DGR, every 375HH bolt gun needs to be modified to carry at least 5 down. 5. While a floor plate and detachable box magazine both use a mechanical latch, only the floor plate latch is reliable. Disregard the fact that every modern military rifle uses a detachable box magazine. 6. The Remington 700 is unreliable regardless of the fact it is the basis of the USMC M40 sniper rifle for 40+ years with no changes to the receiver or extractor and is the choice of more military and law enforcement sniper units than any other rifle. 7. PF actions are not suitable for a DGR and it is irrelevant that the M1, M14, M16, & AK47 which were designed for hunting men that can shoot back are all PF actions. 8. 95 deg F in Africa is different than 95 deg F in TX or CA and that is why you must worry about ammunition temperature in Africa (even though most safaris take place in winter) but not in TX or in CA. 9. The size of a ding in a gun's finish doesn't matter, what matters is whether it’s a safe ding or not. 10. 1 in a row is a trend, 2 in a row is statistically significant, and 3 in a row is an irrefutable fact. 11. Never buy a WSM or RCM cartridge for a safari rifle or your go to rifle in the USA because if they lose your ammo you can't find replacement ammo but don't worry 280 Rem, 338-06, 35 Whelen, and all Weatherby cartridges abound in Africa and back country stores. 12. A well hit animal can run 75 yds. in the open and suddenly drop with no initial blood trail, but the one I shot from 200 yds. away that ran 10 yds. and disappeared into a thicket and was not found was lost because the bullet penciled thru. I am 100% certain of this even though I have no physical evidence. 13. A 300 Win Mag is a 500 yard elk cartridge but a 308 Win is not a 300 yard elk cartridge even though the same bullet is travelling at the same velocity at those respective distances.

really 4 different models.. round top push feed, square bridged push feed, mkII pushfeed (no bottom cut slot for the round to feed up) and a more or less CRF round top uses remington bases (seriously) here's a picture of the most powerful roundtop ever (i think) push feed vs semi-CRF tang safety vs 3 position safety both are cast receivers you can get steel bottoms for either not alot of stock choices out there limited triggers, but the mkII has a couple more choices both have HORRIBLE marlin reject pads was a run of mkIIs that didn't shoot for squat, sorry, don't know the SN range, but they certainly got better PITA to reblue and not have a purple receiver opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? Hey Mike, Back when the Mark II was initially released I read a glowing report about them by Layne Simpson in Shooting Times. He really spoke well of it. I had a good many original M77s at that time and was very interested in the new ones. Got to the Gun Shop, handled it a bit and it did appear to be a fine rifle. However the Gun Shop Owner happened to come out of the office and told me in no uncertain terms that " I " would not like it at all. "It has a non-adjustable trigger in the new one." He even pulled the stock to show me. Dropped Shooting Times too. As well as I can remember it was a non-adjustable 2-stage trigger fiasco. Don't know what they have done to them since then.

The Ruger 77-either variation- is the only rifle I have nothing nice to say about it. I honestly don't even like the mag spring in the M77 Mk II. if forced to pick one, I would go with the older tang safety model. The non-adjustable trigger on the Mk. II can be adjusted and made semi-ok, but it is not easy. It is physically impossible to get a great trigger on the 77, given the extremely loose tolerances all of Ruger's castings. In order to get a great trigger, one would need to ream all of the holes, make and install bushings in the parts, anf fit tight pins in them. To do that correctly would cost more than the new rifle would cost. For a hunting trigger that is acceptable to 99% of the hunters out there, you can get it if you know what you are doing. I did one for one of my best friends last week. But damn it took a lot of work!

Really? All one needs do for the tang safety model is install a RIFLE BASIX sear! Dennis Olson just replaced mine and installed a LePour 3 position safety. I'll match this setup against any other rifle. Don't know much about the Mark II. I won't touch one until they replace that afterbirth they call a safety with one on the bolt!

I have a mkII in 22-250 that is one of my favorite rifles, the factory trigger is set to a very shootable 2.5 #'s, I love the 3 POS safety and the confidence of knowing that the firing pin is barred from moving forward in the full on POS, this is nice when hikeing and going up steep stuff where one might stumble or get the trigger hooked on a twig. the rings aren't that sexy, however I love the stock design and the finish they put on it, I would rather the floor plate release be inside the bow, last time I took it out to develop a less temp sensitve load, it grouped 3 different bullets and with 4 different powder combos into less than .8 MOA, average. its shot several, .25 3 shot groups as well as too many to count into around .5 MOA, it didn't start out this way, but one day I torqued the shit out of the action screws and it came to life instantly. its just too bad there isn't more goodys out for rugers, like there is for remingtons. if I buy another factory rifle it will most likely be a ruger in times when one needs a rifle, he tends to need it very badly.....PHC
