Try Lee LeBas @ (775)841-3069 or www.learmes.com Lee is an expert in all types of period and modern claw mounts. Another option might be to ditch the claw system and have a "normal" scope mount system fabricated to fit the dovetail. A good gunsmith could make a plug for the existing dovetail, polish and then stipple the area with a nice border and you would probably not notice the patch. Then you could drill and tap the front receiver for a standard base. A re-blue would finish the job. Duane Wiebe, in Placerville, could do this entire job nicely. (530) 344-1357 It would be less expensive than piecemealing the job. Either way is going to cost some real money. [This message has been edited by ForrestB (edited 03-08-2002).]

German claw mounts of the Shler type are the absolute top in terms of detachable mounts. Return to zero is 100%. Unfortunately they cost a small fortune (a rebluing job is needed in most cases) and require skill to install. I had them installed on my FN-Browning O/U rifle Considering the bases are already on your rifle, I would advise your having the rings and claws fitted. ------------------
