The guy styled himself as some kind of master hunter from alaska, but I don't think he ever got away from the computer considering how he seemed to post about 18 hours a day. Probably some kid from Connecticut having some laughs.

I rate this as a bit of a cheap shot. True, the man posted fairly often but he also did more hunting, shooting and fishing than the average person. He didn't just talk about it either, he backed it up with many, many photos and that is what I will miss most. If the truth were known I would bet there has been a fair share of jealousy over the years of the life he was able to live in Alaska by many people. I realize the owner of 24 hour had no choice but to do what he did, but I see little need for the adjectives that have been used here to describe the person who is no longer on the forum.

An opinion just like all the others here and worth just about the same as the rest of them too. Wink

If I'd wanted to take a cheap shot then I would have named him. That's why I never piled on the condemnation or praise of this individual on 24hourcampfire when he got banned, his name was out over there. As for cheap shots, that was this individual's downfall, he took them at anyone who wasn't in his adoration society. Sometimes being an asshole just catches up to you.

Nah......that would just be a cheaper shot.

And as long as you know who the guy was/is, the following.....

.....is a cheap shot.

The guy had some faults.

Representing himself as anything other than what he was.......wasn't one of them.

I see no reason to visit one site and not the other. This site and 24 Hour are very good sites.
If you want to dwell in history about some guy over there you didn't like, then you have a good reason not to visit there. But, 24 Hour is a very good site with lots of smart guys posting there. And, some of the regular good guys there post here also.
I like both places. I learn for here and there.
I think Sav 99 was opening up possibilities for guys here to expand their shooting and gun horizons by visiting there too. A good thought. When I find something good, I like sharing it.

I do the same. I like both sites and read way more than I post on either. I see little need to turn it into a competition between the two.

I would be obliged if one of you folks explained something to me?

If we believe 99 is telling the truth, how did the thread get started? Roll Eyes

Do I detect a subversive motive for the original post, or what?

Maybe as an after thought, but I advertised a bunch of stuff over there and also on here. It holds true about the Remington 700 crowd. I tried to instruct them on both ads that I did not want PM's. Guess what? Guess how many PM's I got?

Both sites have their strengths and weaknesses.

I think AR has too many forums. Lots of them could be consolidated which would make topics more active, because they would get more views.

There are a lot of good guys over at 24hr.

So what exactly happened with the poster in question on the 24hr? I thought he and Rick were tight.

To make a long story short, Rick made a request and asked not to be push on it. Regrettfully someone did push and it left Rick with one choice. My hat is off to him for trying his best to avoid what eventually happened.

I for one value your posts over on 24 Hour. And, I value your posts here.

That forum has improved as of late.

At this moment 24 HR has three times as many active posters online as AR!

I am not participating at AR these days.

Now the count is 886 at 24 hr and only 206 at AR.

I don't think you can compare AR and 24Hour as they are very different sites.

AR is more guns and ammo orientated and doubly so where larger than 30 calibre is concerned.

A huge proportion of 24Hour postings are on Hunters Campfire and that forum is at the top of the index. The AR Miscellaneous forum is virtually non active. THe AR Political forum is extremely active but the activity is only coming from a few posters.

24Hour has a lot of posters that like Rem 700 and customs on Rem 700 and also small bore Wbys all of which will mainly get the thumbs down on AR Smiler

The Reloading forums on 24Hour are at the very low end of the index.

Go easy on him. It's very obvious to me that anyone that would bring this back up after this length of time is mildly retarded.

I'm a member of both forums and trust me, they call him an idiot over there too.

It's good to see you not participating again. Wink

I post on both forums, but much more frequently on AR.
