Local gunsmith informs me that my .22 K-Hornet Zbrojovka BRNO ZKW 465 has excessive headspace and a badly pitted barrel. He wants to re-barrel. I'm not too sure I want to spend that kind of money for a K-Hornet as I have a CZ full stock in .22 Hornet that shoots superbly. Besides trading it off, what are my options? Re-barrel to another cartridge or re-bore to another cartridge? What other cartridges will work in the BRNO magazine/bolt? Ideas please.

Depends:
on how deep the pitting is,
and how bad the chamber is.

I made a dandy 25 Hornet out of one by setting the barrel back ,with a rebore rechamber.

The 270 REN is another thought.

Even the little .327 Federal magnum might be interesting.

If you are going to rebarrel, how about .204 Ruger?....Tom

And use a special tighter-neck chambering reamer, to correct the usual oversize Hornet neck dimension. Just enough tighter to 'snug-up' the neck, not enough to cause any special reloading iterations.

Lots of good smiths do reboring.
Usually done for rimfire and lower pressure older cartridges.

If you want to keep it a Hornet I might still have a CZ Lux Hornet barrel. I wanted a 17 Mach 4 and rebarreled it. The Hornet barrel shot fine and probably has less than 200 rounds through it, I just wanted somthing different.
