Ok, What length action is the .308 SPR action based on? Is it a standard length action or is it a short action for the 308 only?

Bummer, I was hoping it was a standard action with a short detachable box magazine on it. I wanted to replace the bottom metal and have an 06 length action.

The SPR and other model 70 short actions are about 1/2 inch longer than a Rem 700 short action. Great action for 6.5X284 or the like. The detachable magazine I don't like. I have two sets of bottom metal for them if someone needs them for a project. Will gladly trade for standard bottom metal.

Ever chambered one in 6.5-06? Its about .070 longer than 6.5x284 I imagine it would be a tight squeeze in that action.
