Hi I bought a Ruger 77 all weather in 3006 last year a new one not those old ones with thumb saftey and it is a nice gun feeds and extracts well ,but it is not CRF at all it pushs the cartridges forward without griping the case. according the company it should be a CRF!!!! . do you have the same problem with your Rugers? regards yes Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.

Was it new or just the non tang safety? I thought some of the early MKII had a claw extractor but were really still just push feed. Or am I all wet as usual? As usual just my $.02 Paul K

ramrod340, You are right. When the Mark II M77 first came out in the early 1990's it was still a pushfeed, but had the three position safety. They soon started making it CRF simply by milling off the bottom of the bolt face rim, the weak sister. This is probably a 1991 or thereabouts gun before Ruger started making it CRF. We could call it the First Generation MkIIM77. The CRF ones are Second Generation. Any competent gunsmith can mill off the "weak sister" to make it CRF, so the cartridge rim slips under the extractor as it comes out of the box. I had one like that fixed, about 1992. Ruger is on Generation Three of the RSM. Only two varieties of standard M77MkII exist, as far as I know. The first were pushfeeds for one or two years, then CRF everafter.
