I am building a 375 H&H on a LH Johannsen double square bridge magnum Mauser action. The look I am wanting is simple, yet classic.

I am considering installing a NECG grip trap. The price looks good but I am wondering what the quality is like. Anyone had some hands-on experience with these?

Thanks

What exactly is a grip trap? I know a mouse trap traps mouses, but I have no idea how to trap a grip...

DD,
these are excellent quality. there's some amazing level gunmakers who use them, and sell high dollar rifles.

If you are going to do one of these, inletting this is a critical point, to get the angle and shape right

Rootbeer,
Here some more information on these

The fully enclosed type of traps have to be the hardest thing you will ever inlet.

Talk with your gunsmith first and see if he even offers to do it.

Steven Heilman makes a good looking grip trap as well.

Heed the words of Winston Smith in Orwell's 1984:

"Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right."

Richard,
I have the Rechnagel (NECG) trap grip cap on my 9.3x62. It looks great. I should be able to rustle up a photo in the next day or so. I also have a HEILMANN trap grip cap waiting at the gunmaker's for my next rifle. It's also a fantastic unit. You couldn't go wrong with either as far as I'm concerned.
