Occasionally I've used shims to raise a M70 barrelled action a bit in the stock in order to temporarily float the barrel to check for any improvement in accuracy. Put one on the flat behind the recoil lug and another back by the tang area. I've cut flat pieces off of a plastic gallon milk jug to use as shims. Probably a bubba job but seemed to work OK. However, what other methods would accomplish this perhaps even better? thanks guys.

I use gasket paper and it comes in different thicknesses. And in the forearm too to put upward pressure on the barrel.

I have one now that has a piece of #10 wire front and back on the action and have not got to test the free float due to other things receiving my priority. I was going to use milk carton, but figured they had "give" and may introduce their own variables Don't limit your challenges . . . Challenge your limits

About anything will work for testing, lets not over think this..Ive used about everything that's flat, mostly business cards. Once you shoot it hopefully it shoots great, you will know how to glass bed it..
