I am determined to have a Ruger #1 International restocked in Laminate, but have only found one Company that will do the work. I spoke with Boyd's today and they indicate that to reproduce the mannlicher style forend in laminate will take, "at least 6 months." The cost for the forend is not cheap. If I have no other options that's what I will do, but I thought maybe someone else knows of another company.

Why not just buy laminate blank and take it and your factory stock to a duplicator? I have no experience doing this, but I would think it could be done.

It is a simple task to make a forearm from your pattern stock. I have made several patterns from finished stocks by taping the stock completely to keep from marring the finish with the guide. Jeffeoso should be ready to do this work shortly. On my machine design a mannlicher style stock could be made, but the forearm cannot be cut all the way out to the end because of the length of the machine. A piece of an old stock can be added to a standard stock by using the barrel channel to hold the extra length of wood. I used the front swivel hole and another spot about 4 inches in the channel to hold a metal support attached to extra piece of wood. After routing the mannlicher stock blank, a band saw is used to remove the extra wood. You will have to inlett the added length for the mannlicher by hand tools. On a #1 stock all that is needed is to add wood to make centers on each end. I use 5 minute epoxy to add pieces to stock patterns when needed. It would take about an hour to make up a pattern using your forearm. I would use auto body bondo to bed the barrel of the new pattern and then CUT YOUR NEW FOREARM It ain't that hard!!! I have a metal insert that is used on the butt stock to allow for routing the action area. It is held in place by the stock bolt. Hope this helps. Les

Terry and Jeffe, maybe I'm missing something, but I haven't seen any Lam blanks available for this kind of forend. And if I found one, I don't know of a duplicator to contact. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
