Well almost, I still need to add the swivel stud to the butt and regulate the sights. I've finally got to a point were it looks like I can see light at the end of the tunnel!

For those that haven't been around, I've been posting pics of the progress of this rifle since I brought it home 3 years ago. Some good and some bad. It's been though 3 different gunsmiths, it was "stolen" and recovered, It had a building collapse on it and it's had 3 different stocks on it. Almost everything that could go wrong did.

While it doesn't measure up to some of the stuff I've seen posted here I'm still proud of the way it turned out and a big plus is I got to do some of it myself.

Here is how it all started. I purchased this beautiful bubba'ed up 1909 M98 from Weasel's gun&pawn for a whooping $125.00

Here's the finished rifle. Love the fiddleback

As they used to say at the end of the A Team television series. You have to love it when a plan comes together. Or something like that! It is definately nice. Hope she shoots as good as she looks.

100% high class rifle. I too would like to hear about the type of wood and pattern. Also, what's the finish on the extractor? I bet she comes up to open sites beautifully.

Case harded rings - Nice Accent!!

Tell us about them - where did you find them?

Schnebel(sp?) tip another Fantastic Accent!!

It's the little things that set a rifle apart - Great rifle - you should be proud to show &
and shoot it anywhere.

I really hope you hunt with it - it would be a shame for it to be in a safe forever.

The wood is a piece of Claro walnut. I got it and the turning done by Cliff Sticklstad.

The rings were polished bright and shinny with a dremal tool and sent to Doug Turnbull for CC hardening.

I'm sworn to secrecy on the pattern. Sorry, but the pattern owner reads these threads. I could tell you, but I'd have to kill you afterwards. Big Grin

Hey JJS, Yes and very soon. It weighs 7 1/2lbs before the optics.

Debee, the guy who turned it is Cliff Sticklstad, better known as Dakota Cliff on ebay, HA! Here is what it looked like after they were turned.

The pattern is an old guild gun pattern. I added the cheek piece to and re-did the schnable tip.

I had a great time doing it till I pushed a 1/4" chiesel through my hand! The doctor said I might get some of the feeling back in my thumb one day. Mad

Never seen one of those. While it looks nice, it wasn't outrageous price wise. Give or take, this rifle cost about 1/3 of a comparably equipped Dakota.
