| As to the cost. Only you can really decide that. The repair depends on how handy you are. It is very easy to clean up and repoint the checkering. Dents can be raised with a wet rag and an iron. I use a large soldier iron to supply pinpoint heat. If the wood fiber has been cut then repair is harder. |

| ramrod340 Thanks for the reply. The rifle is intended for hunting and I wanted something that wasn't so beautiful that I'd be worried about marring the stock. I also hate hunting with a ugly gun. I think I will strip and refurbish the stock. I also didn't want to just buy a "pig in a poke" and find out later the value of the rifle was only a couple hundred dollars. If the project turns out well, I'll post a picture. |

| Locally I have seen FN's in that condition from $350 to $500, so I think the price you are seeing is the high end. |
