I recently purchased two Turkish walnut blanks that came from www.denli.ch. The top blank I bought directly from Denli, the bottom I got from TC1. Unfortunately my pics don't do justice, there is a lot of subtle figure & contrast not captured. Both are extremely hard and dense, equal figure on both sides, perfect layout on the top, perhaps a little turndown in the pistol grip on the second but not too much for a 7x57.

Beautiful...love them both...that said if the second stock is not wanted I'll take it off your hands any time.....That's simply spectacular IMO.

Terry, I'm hoping "financial restraints" didn't cause you to part with that blank. What a beauty.

I had my Denli blank sent directly to the cutter.

He seems to like it, and he's an understated kind of guy.

I'm just waiting on the pattern.

I browse the Denli and Hunterbid websites daily. I haven't been smitten by anything from Chiron recently--in my price range--but both sites have had drop dead gorgeous blanks on occasion.

I just wish Denli was updated more often.

Jim, was sent from Turkey via NEX Worldwide, delivered to my door in Houston by DHL, don't know why yours is taking so long. Ali was very cordial in his communication, fluent in English, honored your discount. I think his prices and blanks are highly competitive with what is available in the USA but shipping and wire transfer costs push up the price.

I'll put in a "good guy" plug for TC1 too. Terry sent my blank before I got his check to the post office and didn't cash it until I confirmed I was satisfied. It really is stunning, the finest I have ever owned, slated for my Tom Burgess Peruvian.

Forrest-

Ordering from Denli is a little scary: One must wire the funds to some numbered bank account in Switzerland.

I would have been skeptical, except for (a) the beauty of the blanks, and (b) good reports here.

A Burgess Peruvian???

May I touch the hem of your garment?

Bruce, I was a little uneasy too, but Terry and some others said no problem so I went ahead. Yes, you have to wire US dollars to his Swiss account, which cost another $45. And air express was almost $100, but it got here in a few days. Ali Denli did give me what amounted to a 12% discount, after Jim ordered 2 really special blanks. A quantity purchase with some other guys will get you the best deal. He does alot of business, particularly in Europe, has great blanks, his pictures are very accurate, offers an exchange if you aren't happy, I wouldn't worry.

Forrest, those are wonderful blanks. I am salivating over the bottom one. I was at Dressels yesterday going through the pile. I saw a few in that league but not many. I did take a look at their Dakota Duplicator (as there is one in my near future) and Paul had some real high end stuff stashed in that room. None was any better than that one though.

I do think that someone needs to get a big bunch of that wood and charge some of use wood junkies to fondle it for an hour or two. I would pay!!!!

TCI has very good eye for wood.

I was struggling to find what I wanted. Thankfully, TC1, ForrestB, ForrestA, and my Gunsmith pointed me in the right direction.

Funny though, I had TC1 look at several of the Denli blanks I had an interest in ...he says NO to all I had selected but to take a look at #726, that's a nice one...yea, just happen to fall in the "Exhibition" catagory shame Worse yet the second one came out of the "Special" Catagory Eeker

It's all TC1, ForrestB, and ForrestA fault I had to up my budget CRYBABY but I think they were right on... clap

I am hoping mine look as nice as ForrestA's two blanks Smiler...now they just have to get here! Hopefully, tomorrow!

The following is not as wild and exotic as those but a sexy looking piece of English I picked up in a gun store in Seattle a month ago. And at $150 I did not even argue with the price. Good eye candy nonetheless.

The following I have had a few years. Going on my skeet gun.

Are you sure the blind pig wasn't the seller? Razzer That's a beautiful piece of wood.

My two Denli stocks arrived today thumb

Even better than I thought they would be...sent some pics to TCI to post. I know they will not show all the subtle figure, contrast, fiddleback but best I can do with pics.

Both blanks are for big bores projects, so I needed as straight grain as possible. I still think they are very nice considering this requirement.

I will echo what Forrest had to say about Ali Denli, I spoke with him on the telephone a few times as well as exchanging e-mails, he was prompt, considerate, and went out of his way to help me find what I was looking for...shipped as soon as he got funds. He lives in Switzerland and that's the reason for the Swiss Bank.

Good stuff great price.

jjs, I am looking forward to seeing them. This has been a fun post. I love looking at nice blanks.

Brent, they are earmarked already for guns of my own. The first blank is going on a Belgium side by side that I had Dennis Potter rebuild and the other on my skeet gun.

I took them down to have Sharon Dressel about the value and I was thinking $600 on the first one and she said an easy $1000 and maybe more. But then she just might have been humoring me.

Chick,I suspect she could probably get about a grand for that first one. It is, in my opinion, just about perfect. I'd probably put it on a falling block rifle, but a double would be a possibility.

Nice nice nice.
