I've been googling and not finding a whole lot. Macon Gunstocks makes one, but I have heard some negative reviews of the outfit. Anyone know of a source?

Gunstocks inc makes them; don't know anything about the firm though.
Bob's Gun Shop has them too.

I just finished fitting a Butt Stock on a Franchi 48AL that came from Gunstocks,Inc. I had to file the machine inletting off and go from there. His pattern must need work....

Contacted Gunstocks this morning and they are no longer producing the Model 81 butt.

I have had some Gunstocks inc wood sent my way. They require more than a little extra work. Usually quite chunky, which is ok, but fitting can be tedious.

These things are so simple that I would just take a blank and chop away everything that doesn't look like a Rem 81 stock.
If you have an old one, I will make you one on my duplicator.

Call or email these guys
http://www.gunville.com/produc...emington-8-stock-set

They adv a Model 8 stock & forearm.
They have patterns for many others than they show on their site.
Excellent work, I've used them many times.

A Rem M8 stock I got from GunStocksInc was bad,,really bad.

Actually, this thing is probably too hopeless even for a duplicator. Gentlemen, shield your eyes first:

Not at all; I can take it back to original contours and length and use it as a pattern.

I have seen worse not by much. Just cut and rasp the hump down to where you want it.
