Last year forum member dpcd undertook to convert a LH SS RUGER MKii in 270 to 9.3x62 for me. He used one of his fabulous Douglas barrels in no 3 contour and.cut it off at 24 inches. He went through the action as well as the trigger and the safety and got everything working chummy. I traded a client up here for some work and sights and a sling swivel were.added. I have an NECG peep sight for.it and.Tom reshaped the factorylaminate stock into a.much more user friendly Hawkeye type design; thinner and rounder in the band. A real working type.rifle.for.inclement weather.
The RUGER may not be the darling of the custom rifle.crowd but its.hell for stout and rock solid. So much so I have just sent him my other SS LH RUGER to be turned into a.scaled down twin in 7x57. Perhaps Tom would share his.work in pics with commentary. He is an excellent gun plumber. I Also need to get him to finish my 275Rigby and just sent him my wifes.cz 7x57 for some magic.

It should be, an investment cast improved copy of a Swede Husqvarna with a Win M52 bolt guide.

I like the integrated square bridge, 3 position safety, decent trigger, and angled front lug ... the purple cast they get is sometimes distracting ...
having only made a couple dozen ruger customs ...

Bluefish's Rugers are stainless so they don't get the red color.

The reddish purple cast comes about when the blueing salts is too hot, or so it seems to me..
Actually I kinda like it on a properly polished high gloss metal...but that's just me!

I should have read better -- i LOVE the ruger mkII SS actions, matte blasted.

Ray,
the purple isn't from the salts being too hot, otherwise the rest of the gun would be.. i am certain you've had tanks, so I won't preach at you about temps and killing the salts.. anyway, its from the hardness of many of the castings

Regarding the reddish color of blued Rugers, I have a great advantage here. When I blue a Ruger, it might be reddish but, because I'm colorblind, I can't see it so it doesn't bother me much! Regards, Bill.
