Ruger to .340 Wby
Hi,
Are the actions of the Ruger 77 MkII and Hawkeye long enough to allow re-chambering from .338WM to .340 Wby Mag?

The action is but I don't think the magazine box is.

I think (don't have a Ruger to measure) it would require steps like taking the action to 375H&H. It can be done with factory parts even keep the same stock.

They are and work well. I have been using the rifle featured in that Rifle magazine article and the only flaw I can see is that the bolt stop needs to be ground back quite a bit. It works fine but has to compromise strength some what. My bet is that that is one of the reasons Ruger designed an entirely new cartridge to fit the existing action.

Anyone who claims the 30-06 is ineffective has either not tried one, or is unwittingly commenting on their own marksmanship
