SchauckisRuger to .340 Wby
Hi,
Are the actions of the Ruger 77 MkII and Hawkeye long enough to allow re-chambering from .338WM to .340 Wby Mag?

ramrod340The action is but I don't think the magazine box is.
I think (don't have a Ruger to measure) it would require steps like taking the action to 375H&H. It can be done with factory parts even keep the same stock.

458WinThey are and work well. I have been using the rifle featured in that Rifle magazine article and the only flaw I can see is that the bolt stop needs to be ground back quite a bit. It works fine but has to compromise strength some what. My bet is that that is one of the reasons Ruger designed an entirely new cartridge to fit the existing action.
