Sysephus,

WOW! Thank you so much for the time and trouble you took in making and posting this diagram for me. I appreciate it immensely [Smile]

Lynn - We might sum everything up for you by saying that a firearm is never really aimed AT an object. You are always aiming OVER the target and essentially lobbing the bullet into the spot you want to hit. It's just like throwing rocks, really...only with bullets they go so fast you can't see what's happening and the actual elevation is measured in only inches. The bullet is only on line with the target going out and coming down for impact.

How do you ever hit anything then? Easy. The normal variation above or below is so small as to matter very little in most hunting situations.

For now just learn sight picture, squeeze and gun handling. The other parts of shooting will evolve for you as they have all of us.

Dear me, I hope that it is not I to whom you refer as your "arch nemesis." I can assure you that you are not my nemesis at all, let alone an "arch" nemesis. Presumably to attain such status would require that you occupy a disproportionate amount of my thoughts and time.

I took the time to look up "Nemesis" in the Canadian Oxford Dictionary, Thumb Index Ed., Oxford University Press Canada, 1998, at p. 974. It says, a goddess usually portrayed as the agent of divine punishment for wrongdoing or presumption. I can assure you that I am not a goddess, nor do I know your wrongdoing.

Cheer up. It could be worse. I might be your boss and you don't even know it. [Big Grin]

BBBruce,

Unfortunately I know who my boss is in the end, the Right Honourable Jean Chretien, nothing could be scarier than that except maybe, Paul Martin or heaven forbid the return of Joe Clark [Eek!] I think Joe is Canada's version of Jimmy Carter [Roll Eyes]

Re Joe Clark. You're right Lynn. Nobody forgives a politician who told the truth. Take care - Dan
