Pecos41Lynn - We might sum everything up for you by saying that a firearm is never really aimed AT an object. You are always aiming OVER the target and essentially lobbing the bullet into the spot you want to hit. It's just like throwing rocks, really...only with bullets they go so fast you can't see what's happening and the actual elevation is measured in only inches. The bullet is only on line with the target going out and coming down for impact.
How do you ever hit anything then? Easy. The normal variation above or below is so small as to matter very little in most hunting situations.
For now just learn sight picture, squeeze and gun handling. The other parts of shooting will evolve for you as they have all of us.
