I just picked up ANOTHER lakota, and it had been sitting, OPEN for YEARS...

I know, as I have been driving past its previous home for 7 years, and it had been there at least that long.

Long story short, i pulled the carb, before even taking it off the truck. Tore it down, and it had what looked like brown sugar crystals in it ... or, prehaps, looked like it was PACKED in sand ..

I tore it down, cleaned it out, put it in the carb cleaner bucket for 30 mins ... STILL didn't look too good..

So, its sitting in boiling water for 30 mins or so.

*** changed the oil, oil filter, flushed it out, replaced 1/2 of the wiring harness and bought a new battery .. all the rest was already in the shop

I sure as hell wouldn't boil a carb. If it isn't clean after being overnight in good carb cleaner, you need to chunk it.

My father-in-law has boiled them before. ATV and truck. He said they always came out fine. Though he did get a good ass chewing from the wife for using one of her good pots and smelling up the house. Big Grin

Jeff, you need to find someone with a ultrasonic cleaner. If that wont clean it the carb is shot.
