I think I'm having a heart attack. Just left the Polaris dealer. Some buddies suggested I need to get a good 4-wheeler side-by-side for next hunting season. Polaris seems to be the best consensus, so I drove over.
OMG, a RZR 900 set up nice was pushing twenty-grand by time I stuck a decent trailer behind it.

The worst for that price you can get a great 2nd hand pickup with 4x4!!!

Over here those side by sides go for around $30k and that will be just the plain one...

Have a 1986 Toyota set up for off-roading. Been over the Rubicon and many off-road competitions (not driven by me) climbing rock-walls, etc. Can go over stuff (boulders) no Polaris can do.

Paid $6K about 8 years ago. Not sure what it would go for now.

In short, the prices asked by Polaris and others seem to depend on a certain gullibility that their products can do things that other alternatives cannot do. Not so!

I have a Totota FJ Cruiser (2013 model), gorgeous black one. That said, my lovely wife thinks it is hers, and has suggested terrible things could happen to my body if I scratch it.

I was thinking it might be easier to pack an Elk out on one.

However, that seems reasonable when an outboard powered fishing boat goes for the same price or more.

My bank guy said 2.79% for four years. About $380 a month. That's another trip to Africa...

Not only do they cost too much, you'll spend $1800 to $2000 a year on belts, little naggling problems and other maintenance unless you're willing to do it yourself. I have friends that drag theirs all over the country for Sporting Clays matches and just riding around at nice improved shooting ranges generates that level of maintenance.

As a disabled combat vet, the VA will do them for free. Three months off as a minimum, and then the other one and another three months.

I bought a Ranger XP 900 3 weeks ago. Found a 2014 model that was left over and got a pretty good deal on it. I can't believe I waited this long to get a UTV. My pickup will be very happy it's not getting bounced around and skinned up on the ranch. The Polaris is actually much more comfortable when going over the bumps and bounces at the ranch.

Probably by now you've already either bought one or decided against it but I thought I'd add this anyway.

A few weeks ago my wife and I bought a Polaris Ranger midsize 570 with electronic power steering. Quite a bit cheaper than the 900, has all the power and size we'd ever need.

We added a roof and will likely get a windshield and rear window for cold weather use. The design makes it easy to install or remove the windows. We'll likely add a winch and possibly a snowplow blade at some time.

So far we only regret not getting one of these side by sides years ago. Been using it for all kinds of cleanup jobs/firewood hauling on the farm, plus riding around cross country.

As Cliff Lyle noted, ride across rough country is far better than the 4WD pickup, goes places the truck can't and keeps the truck from getting beat up.

Here in Saskatchewan UTVs have become virtually standard equipment on farms and ranches.

My brother and I split $200 of raffle tickets at the local SCI banquet a few years back. We won the Yamaha Grizzly. We knew we wouldn't ride it together, so another $1,500 or so each turned it into a Rhino. Not too bad, but then he got married and it's now worn out by him taking his step kids around the neighborhood. I forgot what it looks like.

Get the damn thing and don't look back. Life is too short. Me and my son had cow tags in the Jarbidge area (just south of you, Dorsy Creek in the Diamond A), short story long, we got them both down in the nastiest canyon in the range with no road in the bottom i.e. only way out was up, and I think I had a stroke packing this year.
