Looking to buy a couple 4 wheelers now that I live in CO. We want one to be a 2-up. Which makes it a Polaris, Artic Cat or Can-am.

Any experience and recommendations?

if it was me .. artic cat .. but, then again, if it was me, i'd buy a rzr rather than a 2 up .. about the same size, but the rzr is safer

Would that feeling come before or after you wreck?? Wink I had thought about a sxs but feel the 2up would be easier to use hunting here in the mtn. Most of the time the 2up would only be hauling me and gear. Only a second person when the step son was here and we needed to handle 3 on two 4 wheelers. Then it would only be logging and mining roads.

CAN AM outlander MAX 800

I like the looks of a Can Am. But was thinking a little less on the motor side. I wasn't planning on pulling the house.

Well after looking at the three 2-up brands on the market today I have decided to go with a can-am. Depending on the deal I can get will be a 550 or 650. After talking to the salesman so no need for a 800.

I have an outlander max 400 and really like it, it hasplenty of power, however if i had it to do over i would have went with the 500, just because that would have made it a fuel injected model, the 400 is carborated, which makes it a little cold natured/hard to start, but once warm it has plenty of power with a top end of about 45mph

I'm leaning towards the 500 or 650. I was told and the info I picked up says the new 400 is EFI as well. However the twin cylinders of the 500 or 650 sure runs smoother than the big single of the 400. Since I want to take off and be ready at to go from sea level to 11,500ft EFI is a must.

another vote for a side by side. since you will be using it mainly on logging roads, size is not really an issue. yesterday i traded in my 7 year old Yamaha Kodiak ATV for a Yamaha Rhino(smaller 450cc version). spent most of today ringing it out. does everything the ATV did- just more comfortably. and the dump bed in the back is a helluva lot easier to use than pulling a small trailer or loading and tying stuff on the rear rack - not to mention a lot more load capacity. i could care less about speed-after all, how fast are you going to drive SAFELY on a logging road? i have bought my last ATV(7 YEARS AGO).

Polaris X2 550; Nice ride, fuel injected, small dump box, better back seat than last year. Enough power for 98% of utility needs.
I bought two new 4/6 wheelers for my farm this year. The Polaris X2 550 and the Polaris 6X6 800. The 6X6 is a work horse and safer than the 4 wheelers but is a bit cumbersome in tight areas.
The 550 just sips gas as compared to the + 800 CC units.
The Canam 650 Max is a nice alternative.
Only issue with most of the newer units from all manufacturers is that they have deleted the pull starter. I know it would be difficult pull starting a 800 CC unit. I have about rippped off my fingers pull starting a 500 but it is nice to know you have it if you let the battery run down in the middle of no where.
RZR would be alot of fun!

IMO, pick the reputable engine that has been proven on the market & avoid the Big Bores like the plague, unless you have a huge ego to haul. Based on that, buy your ATV & You should be happy. My 450 Yamaha Kodiak beats my 750 Kawasaki Brute in everyway when it comes to reliabilty & it has never broke down, not to mention the fuel savings. Best of luck.

Unless both of you are really big, I wouldn't get a 2up for very occasional use. It is no big deal riding 2 on a regular 4 wheeler. Want reliability, get a mid sized Honda. You can buy 2 of them on sale for less than a Can-am 800 2 up.

I agree with Gatogordo.

One thing I would also look for is a backup pull rope for starting. many of the new rigs don't have this and I don't think it would be alot of fun looking for a set of jumper cables back in the bush.

If you can't do it with a 500 rig, you won't do it with a bigger engine.

I guess Vee-dubs are out of style. I don't know why as a sand rail or baja bug will carry a lot more. And it's a lot more comfortable. We have a Suzuki Sammy that we use in place of an ATV at my duck club. As a daily driver it's not much good, but for that purpose it fits.

Why you'd want to spend 10K on something new when you can spend 2K on something no one wants anymore I don't know.
