Anyone had any success with those? I had heard that some of the chambers were cut wrong.

I used to be the biggest Rem 700 fan on the planet. Now, I go with custom actions/barrels/etc or buy Savage.

I would never claim to be a 700 fan, but they are ok. I have been shooting them so long, I have the problems figured out. I ventured into Mark V's, Howa's, Winchester M70s and Savages and I guess the feel is different enough I always go back to a rifle based on a 700. I recently picked up a 1903 and 1898 Springfields. The Krag is wonderful but about as complex as a stinking Blaser. The 1903 is perfect. A guy named Ted makes a 1903/98 love child called the Mausingfield. I want to try one. It is made to accept Savage barrels, and Remington triggers and stocks. He gets $1500 plus for them.

Well, given the choice between an 03 or a 98 and a 700, there is no choice for LR accuracy - I will take the 700 every time. But given any number of custom actions, I will pick them over a 700, and if I had to bet money on which factory rifle is the most accurate out of the box it would be a Savage.

Tikka would be my bet. Adjustable trigger, stocks are stiffer than anything else in that price range and the barrels are superb.

I'd rather save a little money and buy a Borden. I have 2 coming my way this spring. https://bordenrifles.com/custo...-timberline-actions/

Norseman- Smart move choosing a Borden. Just don't ask Jim to install a Timney/Rifle Basix/Jard trigger group. Other clones are not created equal. Mausingfield is a bastardized ABORTION!
