I just picked up a Marlin 1894 Cowboy Limited in 44-40. Can anyone tell me when they stopped making this gun? It is not in the current catalog. Also, can you guys suggest some good handloads for it? Data seems scarce.

I have an original M-1873 Winchester carbine, and it does decent work with variants of the Lyman #427098 and 14.0 grains of Alliant 2400. This is a black powder intensity load, and the Marlin is capable of far higher velocities safely.

I don't know how case life would be affected by higher pressures. My cases still need trimming every third firing, so the metal goes someplace each time. I discard cases when they require their fourth trimming.
