I picked up my first 1892 bout 10 months ago (.32 Cal ).Went to test fire and the cartridge stop was not functioning. Took it to my Smith and it's has been there since. He says he can't get the correct part since it is a first year production (#2358). Wondering if someone here could point me to an explanation of the difference of the early part, or even better, a secret source for the part. I don't mind buying guides or higher assembly's to get what I need. Thanks for any assistance.

Homestead Gun Parts lists the cart stop for 32 cal (the same part fits the 25-20 as well)
Don't know if it's a decent price or not.

If it's just 'not functioning' it may be that the small flat spring behind it and the LH cartridge guide that it's attached to is broken.
The Cart Stop pivots on a pin at the front of the Cart Guide.
They have that spring as well.

There may be other sources, it's just one that I thought of.

Early part style,,Late part style,,
I'm not familiar with any. But that doesn't mean there isn't any such difference.
