Hey guys, do any of you have any experience with this rifle? I am really considering getting one if i get the Ruger SRH .44 Mag that i want. This would be a fairly effective combination. I would use it mainly for New Hampshire deer and maybe black bear if i see one. Thanks ahead of time. NH_Hunter

I much prefer the Marlin 1894 in .44 mag. The Winchester 94 is a fine rifle, but it was designed for longer cartridges, like the .30-30. The Marlin's action is shorter and was designed for short rounds. The Marlin feels smoother, and the solid topped reciever is more conducive to scope mounting if you are so inclined. All in all, the Marlin just feels more solid than the Winchester.

You might also try finding a used Marlin Model 1894 P in a 44 mag. I believe that model had been discontinued for some unknown reason. This a miniature Guide Gun in 44. I shoot this guy whenever I'm not in the mood to play with my bigger toys.

I held a Marlin 1894 and i really didnt like it. I dont think it handles as well as a Winnie 94. I wil hold one again when i start shopping around. NH_Hunter
