Happened upon a late vintage 99 in 7mm-08 at a gunshop. This is a clip model, wide forearm, monte carlo buttstock, front sight has hood, and it is in good condition. What years were these produced? Any common problems with this vintage 99?

The 99 was in its death throws when the clip model came out and the 7-08 followed that, then they folded the 99....no one wanted the clip model..It was a last ditch try..but I don't remember the years..early 90s I think.

The savage 99 in 7mm08 is a very sought after collectors item. They usually bring about double what the same gun in 308 or 243 would bring. If the price is right I'd jump on it. This is not due to the quality of the firearm but rather the scarcity of the 7mm08 chambering. Good shooting, Weagle

Seems like owners of 99's rarely sell them! Have never seen this chambering in real life. As others have said-- it is a good investment! Have been looking for a 99 A in .308 with the top tang safety for years and never run onto one of them either--- and a reasonable price!

Buckeyeshooter, you can find a m-99A, .308 in about every copy of Gunlist..I see them in there quit often... What I would like to find is another Mod 99EG in .308..I have had several, but keep selling them for some reason.
