Anyone here shooting a Uberti 1860 45 Colt Henry? If so how is it shooting, cast or jacketed? Mine shoots great with 250 Nosler JHP but not so good with cast, I haven't shot any cast lighter than 250 gr but just ordered some 200 gr cast bullets.

I have shot them with cowboy level loads; plenty accurate for that purpose. Cast bullets need unique techniques. But first clean all the copper out of your bore. Depending on the alloy, can't go too fast. I assume you know all this.

I've had the gun 25 or 30 years and the Noslers were the first jacketed rounds shot through it and that was 2 weeks ago.
I have tried all kinds of alloys through my pot for this thing and none of them shot over 950 fps, most between 700 and 900. I even tried bevel, flatbase and gascheck.
I have some 200 gr rnfp coming so I'll see if the lighter weight does any better.

Slug the bore; could be gas cutting. That is death to alloy bullets. In which case, harder, is worse than softer.

I got in some Hi Tek coated 200 gr cowboy bullets that didn't give good results. I will have to get me some soft pure lead round balls and slug the bore. So far the Nosler 250 gr JHP has did the best.
