Anyone here shooting a Uberti 1860 45 Colt Henry? If so how is it shooting, cast or jacketed? Mine shoots great with 250 Nosler JHP but not so good with cast, I haven't shot any cast lighter than 250 gr but just ordered some 200 gr cast bullets. Steve....... I have shot them with cowboy level loads; plenty accurate for that purpose. Cast bullets need unique techniques. But first clean all the copper out of your bore. Depending on the alloy, can't go too fast. I assume you know all this.

I've had the gun 25 or 30 years and the Noslers were the first jacketed rounds shot through it and that was 2 weeks ago. I have tried all kinds of alloys through my pot for this thing and none of them shot over 950 fps, most between 700 and 900. I even tried bevel, flatbase and gascheck. I have some 200 gr rnfp coming so I'll see if the lighter weight does any better. Steve...... NRA Patron Life Member GOA Life Member North American Hunting Club Life Member USAF Veteran

Slug the bore; could be gas cutting. That is death to alloy bullets. In which case, harder, is worse than softer.

I got in some Hi Tek coated 200 gr cowboy bullets that didn't give good results. I will have to get me some soft pure lead round balls and slug the bore. So far the Nosler 250 gr JHP has did the best. Steve........ NRA Patron Life Member GOA Life Member North American Hunting Club Life Member USAF Veteran
