45-70 bullets out of rifle bullets

has anyone turned down regular rifle bullets on the lathe to make 45-70, 50 alaskan, 50-110 or the 475 wildcats??

basicly making an a-frame nosler partition ect into a flat point protected point good for close range premium whomping bullets.

you could lop off the front end of say barnes banded solids to feed in your lever action to use instead of hard casts or making a round nose of flat point t.s.x.! that would be cool to try out. anyone got a lathe to see what they would look like???

Have made a flat point out of the Woodleigh .50 440grn for the 50-110 weighs about 400grn when done. Only have to take the lead nose off.
The good news is now Woodleigh make a 500grn flat nose for the 50 Alaskan / 50-110.

I modify the nose on a 535 grin woodleigh to flat point for use in a 50 alaskan lever gun. Takes a pinch with some pliers and about 20 passes with 220 grit sandpaper to get the job done.

Why bother with a lathe?

I used to shoot the 400gr Barnes "original" in my 45-70,
back before a flat nose was offered by barnes.

round noses are acceptable in tubular magazines too...

as for "whomp" at Marlin pressures if you can improve on the penetration with expansion of either a 400gr Barnes or a 300gr partition I'd like to hear about it.
